SOUNDMAP Schloßberg is an acoustic ecological project that was created in the summer of 2022.
We transform the Schlossberg into the ear of Graz. The goal is to make a synchronous recording at several points on and around the Schlossberg. For the time window, we will capture the sounds - whether geophone, biophone or antropophone - that hit and emit from the Schlossberg. In this way, we draw a sound relief of Graz, capturing all the different textures that roll through the city and hit or come from the steep flanks of the Schlossberg. All locations were scouted before recording and distributed among the group. Places that are topographical markers and also those that are architecturally manifested were chosen. The timing chosen is related to the beating of the Liesl. On the one hand, to wrap the Cityscape around a concise event, and on the other hand, to capture the movement in the Soundscape that happens when the historic churches ring their bells. The recorders were synchronized in a large choreography and then distributed around the castle hill. Recording time: 5/24/2022, starting at 11:58 a.m. All devices, recording situations, locations and the individual auditory impressions are documented in a Google map, which contains the synchronously edited audio files."
